NEW THINGS FOR THIS YEAR’S APPLICATION PROCESS
- In order to apply for event credentials, journalists will need to review and agree to USA Wrestling and FloWrestling Non-Rights Holder Footage Usage agreement, as well as USA Wrestling’s Media Credentials Regulations. These are posted in pdf format for your review, and journalists should read these documents closely. All those who receive credentials have agreed to both of these documents.
- You must upload a headshot photo of yourself into your USA Wrestling profile before you will be able to submit your media credentials request.
HOW TO APPLY FOR USA WRESTLING MEDIA CREDENTIALS
All journalists seeking credentials will need to have create an account at https://www.usawmembership.com
Once a journalist has signed into their existing account, or created a new account, they will be able to proceed with the media accreditation request process. Once in your account:
- Go to the top of the website and click the “USAW Events” scrollbar
- Scroll down and click “Media Credentials”
- Click the button in the upper right corner entitled “Create Media Pool Request” or by clicking the “Manage Requests” button in your media request list.
Journalists will be asked to provide information including email, phone, state, media outlet, media outlet website and job function (which includes print journalist, print photographer, internet reporter, Non-Rights Holder Broadcast, Rights Holder Broadcast or Press Attache/SID). Applicants are required to place a photo in their USA Wrestling profile in order to complete their application. There are a number of required fields within this information portion of your profile.
At this time, journalists can click their request from numerous 2023-24 USA Wrestling events. Please make sure to click the correct event when applying. Journalists may apply for multiple events at the same time.
Once a journalist has submitted their media request, the person can come back at any later time and request additional events as necessary by clicking the Manage Requests button in their media request list.
Journalists will receive an email with the status of their media request, and other instructions on the background check or Safe Sport training as necessary. The U.S. Center for Safe Sport training includes watching an online video and taking short tests on the topics covered. There is no cost for the background check for individuals approved for the media pool.
Applying in no way guarantees that your agency will receive credentials. At many events, space may be limited and only a certain number of media credentials will be issued. A journalist might be approved for some USA Wrestling events and not for other USA Wrestling events.
Please apply for the background check right away, as it can take a week or more to be cleared.
