USA Wrestling has launched the online media accreditation process for the 2024 U.S. Olympic Team Trials – Wrestling, which will be held at Bryce Jordan Center on the campus of Penn State University in University Park, Pa., April 19-20.
The champions from the U.S. Olympic Team Trials – Wrestling will become eligible to represent the United States at the 2024 Olympic Games Paris, August 5-11.
The deadline for applying for the U.S. Olympic Team Trials – Wrestling is March 26. As there may be a limit in media space availability, journalists are encouraged to apply as early as possible.
USA Wrestling’s current online media application process will be used for this event. Journalists who have applied for previous USA Wrestling national and regional events can go back into the system and apply for the U.S. Olympic Team Trials – Wrestling at this time.
PLEASE NOTE: There will be NO requirement for media applicants to pass a background check or take Safe Sport training to cover the U.S. Olympic Team Trials – Wrestling. The USA Wrestling’s media policy for its other national and regional events WILL NOT be in effect for the U.S. Olympic Team Trials – Wrestling, which is the property of the USOPC.
Anybody who has not previously applied for a USA Wrestling event must create an account at https://www.usawmembership.com (This is not initiating a membership, just creating an account which will allow a journalist to enter the media application system).
When in the media application system, journalists will see a list of events. Locate the entry for the U.S. Olympic Team Trials – Wrestling, click that box only and submit the request.
Each individual media member must apply separately for this event. Step-by-step instructions on how to apply are below. Applicants are required to place a head-and-shoulders photo in their USA Wrestling profile in order to complete their application. No application will be considered without a photo submitted.
Applying in no way guarantees that your agency will receive credentials. Space may be limited and only a certain number of media credentials will be issued.
All media members must sign and comply with the 2024 U.S. Olympic Team Trials – Wrestling News Access Guidelines, as provided by NBC and the USOPC. This document will be forwarded to all approved media for the Olympic Trials when it becomes available
HOW TO APPLY FOR CREDENTIALS FOR THE U.S. OLYMPIC TEAM TRIALS-WRESTLING
All journalists seeking credentials will need to have create an account at https://www.usawmembership.com
Once a journalist has signed into their existing account, or created a new account, they will be able to proceed with the media accreditation request process. Once in your account:
- Go to the top of the website and click the “USAW Events” scrollbar
- Scroll down and click “Media Credentials”
- Click the button in the upper right corner entitled “Create Media Pool Request” or by clicking the “Manage Requests” button in your media request list.
Journalists will be asked to provide information including email, phone, state, media outlet, media outlet website and job function (which includes print journalist, print photographer, internet reporter, Non-Rights Holder Broadcast, Rights Holder Broadcast or Press Attache/SID). Applicants are required to place a photo in their USA Wrestling profile in order to complete their application. The application will not be considered without a photo submitted.
At this time, journalists will be able to access a list of USA Wrestling events. Click the U.S. Olympic Team Trials – Wrestling entry only and submit the request.
Journalists will receive an email indicating that they have been added to the USA Wrestling Media Pool. This is not an acceptance for a credential to the U.S. Olympic Team Trials, just a notification that their request has been received. Information about the background check and Safe Sport training are in that email. (Remember, for the Olympic Trials, media do not have to complete the background check and Safe Sport training.)
A specific acceptance email for the Olympic Team Trials will be sent approving the individual journalist for the credential at a later time.
Journalists seeking assistance in the application process can contact Gary Abbott of USA Wrestling at gabbott@usawrestling.org or call 719-659-9637 cell.
